Inspired to support and knit!

Suzanne Beardsmore

A few years ago Martin Foley came to Birmingham, a speaker at our Annual Study Day, that is Birmingham Branch of the Catholic Women’s League.    I had no idea of the immense debt we owe to those seamen who spend long months away from their families, the harsh conditions may of them have to endure, but they have no option.

We heard too of the sterling work carried out by Port Chaplains.  I was inspired to start knitting hats and progressed to balaclavas with a pattern supplied by your HQ!  I put my address on a package and was delighted to receive a lovely call from Fr Noel Mullin (now retired) at Bristol,  He said it was a lovely sunny day there – but no doubt the balaclavas would be very welcome where they were going!!

So thank you Martin Foley, Port Chaplains and all  who work so hard for this vital cause.  God bless.
